I think I did really well on the sociology exam. I thought it was one of the easiest that we had all semester long. I did study more for it than I did the other ones as well. I am hoping to get a B in that class with the last exam. This first semester didn't go so well as I would have liked it to. But, I did get the experience out of it and that put me in a better frame of mind to do better from here on out. I guess I will see you next semester. Have a good Christmas and Happy New Year. Yay, this is my last blog! I haven't started my Christmas shopping yet, hopefully I'll get around to that tomorrow. What did everybody think of english 110? I thought it was pretty good and I actually had fun, considering I HATE English. Seriously, the more I write the worse I get. In elementary I won awards for essays and stuff and now I'm lucky if I can get an A on a paper...oh well. I can't wait until finals week is over..my last test is on tuesday morning so it shouldnt be that bad. Tip to everybody taking history~don't take history 431/631 as your first history class...I like it but it's a little bit over my head. I loved our final test for English. Then when I get something from them, it's always perfect and then I feel bad because I feel my gift to them is crap. I really wish I knew how many blogs I've done in the past. I keep telling myself, "this is the last one, megan" then when I'm done, I say, "well, one more couldn't hurt!" So far, college experience has been great. I remember my last summer home before I came up here. I was so worried about coming. I knew that once I had been here a while, everything would be fine, but the first initial weeks petrified me. I was scared that I'd have to eat meals alone, and just sit in my room all the time and study. Ewww! Well, college isn't like that at all! Everyone's great! I've met tons of people, and I already have tons of stupid college stories like the ones I've been getting from my parents for years . . . AND IT'S ONLY BEEN ONE SEMESTER! I look forward to coming back and doing it all again in January.

Now onto the subject of break. Don't get me wrong, I'm definately looking forward to going home and just hanging out with my old high school friends and my boyfriend and just sitting on my butt and watching movies, etc. But another part of me is sad that it's three weeks long. After having every day full of activity for 4 months, it's going to be hard going back to days when I have nothing planned. I think it'll bore me after a couple weeks, and I'll want to be back up here. Besides, I hate to think of all the dust and crap that'll be in my room when I get back. I also don't want to pack to go home. What a hassle!

I am glad that I had my last biology class today. It about drove me nuts. The instructor lady just always seemed to be getting mad at us about letting the earth go to shit and how Norway is bad because they hate whales. I had problems staying awake throughout the semester, and when I would look around from time to time I found that I was not the only one. There were at least 7 others that were apparently as uninterested as I was.

Who am I?
Bosnian is who I am and an American is who I want to become. I was born and raised in Bosnia and Bosnian culture is still big part of my life. To be an American I need to do a lot to overcome the differences between the two cultures. There are not a lot of huge differences between the two. However, there are some differences that need to be addressed and also it is necessary to learn how to overcome these differences in a short time period. Hanging on to your old customs in a new and different culture might be the main reason for not succeeding in it. This does not mean that person needs to forget all about their old customs and culture.
Some characteristics of the Bosnian people including me might be weird to most Americans. Characteristics such as that Bosnian woman are not viewed as equal or even close to males might seem really barbaric and uncivilized to most of the Americans. The United States has dealt with that issue one century ago. However, teachers in Bosnia are the exception and they are viewed differently. Female teachers are viewed as well as any other male teacher. Bosnians seem to be more community based. There are a lot of little kids around and all of the adults discipline them like they are their own children. It could be result of long socialism that was practiced in the political system where everything was communal based. I still can recall long lectures from my uncles and then some of the other cousins that lived in same neighborhood.

Flowers for Algernon is great book to read. It is sad that Charlie ended the way he did. I felt sorry for him. Thank you classmates for great discussion we had in class earlier this week. It made me realize some of the main points from the book.

Most people who study mathematics initially have very little idea of the sort of career they wish to pursue. I am not an exception. Today with the advance in technology, many areas have been opened up to mathematicians. Some of those areas are business, government, teaching, meteorology, oceanography, environmental modeling, computing, information technology, as well as oil companies, banks, insurance companies, sock marketing, and consulting firms. All of these are highly paid positions. Where am I going to end up? I do not know yet. However, I hope to become secondary education math teacher.

This week there was a lot of fun but I was wondering how they can allow them to be on TV. Considering that I recently moved to United States a lot of things seem to be strange to me and maybe I am wrong when I say that they should not be allowed to be on TV. However, I think that they have a lot of swearing and I am not fan of it. Comedy is good but what they are doing is too much. I do not know why but I do not know what to say about this week. Class atmosphere is getting better and better. I guess I wrote nothing for previous two as well. However, reading rough drafts of other student gave me better idea of what I am supposed to write. It is great to have thing like this in class; it helps a lot. I almost forgot, the book for this class might seem to be boring to some of you but it is helpful to me. At least it was the case so far. Keep reading it.

Week #3
Finally, professor introduced first major paper in this class. Democratic system in deciding how we should grade the paper and what topics should we consider. It was not hard to decide when all of us participated. Topics seem to be fair and grading system does not sound bad to most of the students because students themselves decided how they want to be graded. We finished early because it was extremely hot in the classroom.

If someone told me about it I would not believe him. However, this week imaginary letters to my parents and my friends resemble each other in so many ways that it is unbelievable. This English class is really going to be fun. It is interesting to see how letters resemble in so many things. Many students wrote to parents that everything is good, but they wrote totally opposite to their friends. What makes them to do that?

Hey everyone! I can't believe that we have only one english class left. I didn't really seriously think about how little time is left in the semester until like yesterday. It's crazy how fast things have gone. I am really looking forward to a break from school. I will be enjoying my break sleeping in lots and seeing friends from high school that I haven't seen for a great while. I'm also going to be going skiing with my boyfriend's family....kinda scared because I haven't been skiing since like 6th grade. It'll be interesting and hopefully I won't kill myself. If anyone has any pointers on how not to make a complete fool of myself, it would be appreciated. I have definitely enjoyed this english class. I felt that we got to write about things that were actually interesting and I also think I learned a lot about myself, as well as how to express my thoughts in a more organized manner. Today's presentations I thought went really well. Everybody pretty much focused on the same things when talking about a country. I thought the "trip around the world" presentation was awesome. I wish i would have done that one, it seemed like it would have been pretty fun to get it all organized. Im really excited for christmas break so i can go hunting and ice fishing about everyday! Well so i was supposed to do my final presentation today, but ive been slacking sooo bad in all my classes that i did a really bad job on my presentation, so sybil(bless her heart) is going to let me do mine on thursday!!!!!but after last nights all nighter( when i wasnt studying for my test) i think i should get some sleep.......

Hey all.
Yea.. this semester has F L O W N by. And, you know what, I think this was my best/favoritest 110 to date. I actually only got frustrated with my syllabus once (instead of the whole time) and many of you calmed me down when I thought I was doing a crappy job. Thanks. I like feedback.

I am looking forward to:
-No more of my own classes to take, just thesis research and writing.
-Christmas.. not because of presents but because I like that feeling when a house just has those little lights on. Plus, I love pumpkin pie and watching the Chevy Chase "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" movie. It's a tradition to watch that at our house and laugh until we pee.
-Almost a month off to read, sleep, and put together a rockin' 120 syllabus.
-New Year's Eve. We are thinking of having a party at our place, maybe.
-January. My birth month.. Super Bowl..
-a "Spring" semester because that means by the end of it it will be WARM.

I hope you are all doing alright. I stressed out big time for every finals week.. the best advice is to sleep to de-stress. Then get up, drink Mt. Dew and hit the books WITH friends.. that makes it fun plus they can put into words what you don't "get"...

Our final essay thingie will be fun. I guarantee it. Seriously.

I know i can't believe the semester is almost over either!!! Im really excited for christmas break but at the same time im not because i have to work...

Well with my presentation done the only major thing i have to do is my architecture project ... which im not looking forward too, but after that, finals week isnt too bad for me. i only have one on tuesday and one on thursday!!!

Well, one more day of class left. Good presentations everyone. I wish I could have got Sybil's class next semester but calc got in the way. I wonder what our final in-class writing will be about??? I think the semester went quite well, and I think the class was pretty good, I learned some things and got better at my writting. Well, have a good Christmas everyone. Later!!!

I still can't believe that first semester is almost over. Think about in under a week I will be able to say I have completed my first semester at NDSU. It's kind of surreal. Final presenations are looking great guys. :)

Well im glad the semester is almost done, but next semester is going to be twice as hard for me. I thought my final presentation went pretty good although, the newsletter i made would have been better until somehow it got erased. So i had to make a new handout at midnight. Oh well i guess, well so far everybody's presentations have been good, i liked the one on a business with guitars, and especially the guitar playing.
